Chocolate Peppermint Spoons and Mexican Hot Chocolate Spoons. Dipped in dark chocolate and topped with either peppermint crunch baking chips or marshmallows and a pinch of cinnamon. Perfect for holiday gift giving!

One of my favorite things about the holidays is curling up by the Christmas tree, sipping on a piping hot cup of coffee. There is something very relaxing about looking into the glowing lights and gazing at all of the handmade ornaments that hang on our tree. That’s another thing about the holidays that I love: handmade goodies. It seems like this is the one time of year where it is completely acceptable, and in many cases preferable to create the gifts you will be giving away. Of those handmade gifts, edible gifts are the best. Or at least the tastiest. Who doesn’t love a homemade treat?

Last week, I shared with you my recipes and tips for infusing your own vodka, and today I wanted to show you another beverage related gift: Chocolate Dipped Spoons. The first time I ever saw this idea, I loved how it elevated the ritual of daily coffee into something even more special for the holiday season. Any gift centered around coffee and chocolate is okay in my book.

These chocolate dipped spoons are incredibly easy to make, and fun to do with the kiddies, as well. Simply dip a wooden spoon into melted chocolate and sprinkle with your desired candies and toppings. I made two varieties: Chocolate Peppermint Spoons and Mexican Hot Chocolate Spoons. Both flavors are dipped in dark chocolate and then topped with either peppermint crunch baking chips or marshmallows and a pinch of cinnamon. The spoons can be stirred into hot coffee or hot chocolate for an added boost of flavor.

Wrap the chocolate dipped spoons in a small sized treat bag and tie with twine or festive ribbon. Give several as a lovely hostess or teacher gift, serve them with coffee at your holiday party, or tuck them into gift baskets full of other gourmet goodies. They are sure to be a hit!
