Holy Guacamole…

by Jamie on August 6, 2008

I always thought I hated avocados, just like I think I hate raw tomatoes. However, on a recent trip to Whole Foods I discovered I love guacamole; therefore, my hatred of avocados is fabricated! Whole Foods is 40 minutes away from my house, so I decided to make my own. Here is what I came up with… personally, I feel the results are quite scrumptious! Oh…and if you have no idea what Sriracha is, click here. I love this stuff…and it can be found in the Asian section of your grocery store!

Ingredients:
4 ripe avocados pitted and mashed
1 Roma tomato diced
1/2 cup diced red onion
2 cloves of minced garlic
1 diced jalapeno
the juice of one lime
salt and black pepper to taste
pinch of Cayenne pepper
a couple of dashes of Sriracha
*You can also add fresh cilantro…I had none on hand.

Directions:
In a medium bowl, mash together the avocados, lime juice, onion, tomatoes, jalapeno and garlic. Stir in cayenne pepper and Sriracha. Add salt and pepper to taste. For best flavor, refrigerate at least two hours.

ah, guacamole–my favorite dip of all time. well, at least this week. :)
your version looks spectacular (and it’d be even better with cilantro…)!

To me, the avocado is the food of the gods! I couldn’t possibly love guacamole any more than I do! I usually have to leave the cilantro out or else my husband won’t eat it:) We also love the Sriacha, but have never used it in guacamole. Interesting!
