Admiring the scenery at Oglebay Stables
Earlier this month, we packed up the Edge and the pups and hit the road for Oglebay Resort in West Virginia. We expected to spend the week relaxing, visiting with family and taking in some serious sunshine. However, things got off to a bit of a rocky start – between the stormy weather, two cabin moves, and numerous phone calls, our little getaway was anything but relaxing. After a couple of days things took a turn for the better and we started to enjoy the scenery and all of the activities that Oglebay had to offer.

Since we only see Brian’s family once a year I was sure to keep my camera on hand to capture as many moments of joy that I could. From long days of swimming in the pool to golf and horseback riding we took in as much as we could during our stay.

Hitting the Trails
Of all the fun things to do at the resort, everyone seemed to love our time at the Oglebay Stables the most. Brian’s daughter and nieces were incredibly excited to each ride their own pony around the grounds and even have a guided tour through the stable. They pretty much wore permanent grins the entire day and a pony immediately shot to the number one must-have item on the their Christmas lists for Santa! We’re kinda hoping the pony novelty wears off by December!

Baby deer giving us the stare down
Once we were home, I immediately uploaded all of the photos onto my computer and started scrolling through them one by one. Of the hundreds of photographs that were taken throughout the week, the ones from the Oglebay Stables stood out as the most joyful moments of the trip. My next favorite photos were of the friendly deer that seemed to take over the Oglebay grounds around dusk. They were such beautiful and gentle creatures – I thought about adding a deer to my Christmas wish list, but decided it just wasn’t practical for our condo! A girl can dream – right?

I’d love to hear about your moment of joy!
