I think a good food processor is the unsung hero of the kitchen. It’s a workhorse from start to finish, chopping vegetables in a flash, making pie dough a thirty second process, churning out salsa with ease. It can be a huge time saver for a multitude of different recipes.

It’s probably the only appliance in my kitchen (well, other than my oven and KitchenAid Stand Mixer, of course!) that I couldn’t live without. Not long ago, KitchenAid sent me their 13 cup ExactSlice Food Processor System to give a test spin. Before I begin describing all its other personally tested attributes, let me just say this: attachment storage case. How smart is KitchenAid for figuring out this age old problem? All the blades and attachments for the ExactSlice Food Processor System fit neatly into their own perfect storage case, which comes with the machine. My organizational OCD went on overload – overload of total happiness!

The KitchenAid ExactSlice Food Processor system comes with 5 different blades:

• Slice
• Shred
• Chop/Puree
• Mini Chop/Puree
• Knead

 
The blades work in conjunction with two differently sized bowls. Got a little job? Use the 4-cup mini bowl that fits inside the 13-cup bowl, for less clean up.The KitchenAid ExactSlice Food Processor system is the first food processor to offer externally adjustable slicing. You can change the slicing size from thin to thick with just a slide of a little lever on the outside of the machine. It also has the only 3-in-1 wide mouth feeding tube, allowing you to put all shapes and sizes of food directly into the machine. If you want wide slices of zucchini for the grill? No problem. Round carrots for the salad? Also no problem.

KitchenAid has optimized the speed and blade levels so they perfectly match the food you’re trying to work with. The high speed works best with cheeses, potatoes, and carrots, while the low speed is perfect for tomatoes, bananas or mushrooms without pulverizing them into oblivion.

I’ve been cooking and baking with the KitchenAid ExactSlice Food Processor for about two months now, and every job I’ve thrown at it, it has handled with ease. I’ve made dough, I’ve made mac and cheese (we used it to shred about 10 blocks of cheddar cheese in a recipe miscalculation by Brian’s pal Corey), and I’ve made plenty of salads and salsas.
