black forest cheesecake

This decadent black forest cheesecake has a rich chocolate base topped with cherry pie filling and whipped cream.

Mix oreo cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press into the bottom of a springform pan. Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool.


Pour hot heavy cream over semi-sweet chocolate chips. Rest 3-4 minutes then whisk until smooth.


Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, followed by eggs 1 at a time. Add vanilla and mix until smooth.


Add the chocolate ganache mixture. Mix until silky smooth.


Pour the filling into the baked crust. Place the pan in a roasting pan; pour boiling water into the roasting pan. Bake for 60-70 minutes.


Turn oven off and leave door cracked and cheesecake inside for 1 hour. Finish cooling on a wire rack and chill for 8 hours. Top with cherry pie filling and whipped cream.
