glazed lemon scones

Tender and brightly flavored, these easy lemon scones are topped with a lemony glaze for a springy breakfast any time of year.

Combine granulated sugar and lemon zest in a bowl. Work zest into sugar until sugar is moistened and fragrant.


Whisk in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 


Grate in frozen butter. Work the butter in with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse meal.


Whisk together sour cream, egg, lemon juice, and vanilla until smooth.


Stir wet ingredient in with a fork. Use your hands to press dough into a ball against the sides of the bowl.


Pat dough into a 7-inch circle on a floured board. Cut into 8 triangles.


Place scones on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 15-16 minutes.


Cool scones for 10 minutes. Whisk together glaze ingredients. Dip tops of scones in glaze and let glaze harden. Enjoy!
