EASY IRISH SODA BREAD
CUT BUTTER INTO FLOUR
Whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Use a pastry blender to cut butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse meal.
MIX THE DOUGH
Stir in buttermilk and one egg until the dough comes together. It will be sticky!
SHAPE THE LOAF
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead into a loaf. Place the loaf in a skillet and cut an X in the top to help it bake more evenly.
Bake for about 45-50 minutes. The loaf is done when it is golden and sounds hollow when tapped. Try to let it cool before digging in! (If you can resist!)
