cinnamon swirl bread

With a swirl of cinnamon sugar running through each slice, this cinnamon swirl bread is the perfect way to start your morning.

Warm milk and butter to around 115 degrees F. Add to a large bowl. 


Mix in yeast, flour, salt, and sugar until a shaggy dough forms.


Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place in a lightly greased bowl.


Lightly cover the bowl and let the dough rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour. 


On a lightly greased surface, roll the dough into a 6"x20" rectangle. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.


Tightly roll the dough into a log, starting from the short end. Pinch the seam and the ends to close and place in a loaf pan. Lightly cover.


Let rise in a warm place until the dough comes 1 inch over the lip of the loaf pan. 


Bake for 45-55 minutes, until deeply golden and the interior reaches 190 degrees F on an instant read thermometer.
