Ingredients
1poundground beef
½poundground pork sausage
3clovesgarlicminced
¼medium onionminced OR 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and sausage. Add the garlic and onion; turn the heat to low and allow to cook for 2-3 minutes.
Remove from the heat and strain off any fat. Set aside.
In a blender, combine the remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth.
Add the browned meat to a slow cooker and stir in the sauce. Cook on low for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally.
TO COOK ON THE STOVE
Brown the meat in a large Dutch oven. After blending the tomato sauce, add the sauce directly to the Dutch oven with the meat. Simmer, covered, for about an hour, stirring occasionally.
Notes
I usually use 90/10 ground beef. If using a lean ground beef, you may need to add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan when browning the beef and sausage.
I typically use ½ tube of Bob Evans Original Pork Sausage and freeze the other half for later.
