Made with sweet Hawaiian dinner rolls, a buttery brown-sugar filling, and a tangy cream cheese frosting, these easy Hawaiian roll cinnamon rolls are the quickest way to get a special breakfast on the table!
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Carefully slice the rolls in half horizontally, keeping tops and bottoms connected.
1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls
Stir together butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a small bowl until well combined and set aside. Spread bottom half of buns with 3/4 of butter mixture and place top halves on top. Place rolls in the prepared baking dish; spread remaining butter mixture on top.
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, ½ cup lightly packed light or dark brown sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, ⅛ teaspoon fine sea salt
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes. Place the pan on a cooling rack and allow the rolls to cool for about 5 minutes before preparing the frosting.
In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Spread icing over warm rolls.
2 ounces cream cheese, 1 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, Pinch of salt
Notes
This recipe can easily be doubled to use a 24-pack of Hawaiian rolls.
If you prefer a powdered sugar glaze instead of cream cheese frosting, use the frosting from my overnight cinnamon rolls recipe.
