Giveaway: NeatDesk Digital Filing System

Post image for Giveaway: NeatDesk Digital Filing System

I may have my own baking blog, but that doesn’t stop me from being addicted to plenty of others too. I hit print a ridiculous number of times when I spend an hour or two visiting my favorite food blogs around the web.I’m also a magazine hoarder and have piles of culinary magazines.

I often wonder, does everyone’s office look like mine? Stacks and stacks of cookbooks, printed recipes, culinary magazines, and web addresses written on post-it notes. I fully admit it: Not only do I have baking addiction, but a recipe reading addiction too.

Brian started (and so did I, if I’m honest) to get a little cranky at all the paper taking over our lives. Right around the same time I was given a box of my Nana’s recipes, I started to think that what I really needed was a way to “back up” all this paper – maybe to the point of being able to get rid of the majority of it all together, but also to keep my Nana’s precious handwritten recipes safe in duplicate form.

Fate intervened, and The Neat Company, maker of the NeatDesk digital scanner and filing system, offered to let me try out their ingenious solution to my incredibly cluttered workspace. The day it arrived, we unboxed it and had it set up in about 15 minutes. It was fast and incredibly simple to get started. I sat in my office and scanned every single 2011 receipt and then started in on the recipes.

I’m now a organizational fool because The NeatDesk allows me to scan in a variety of documents and makes each of them completely searchable. So that stack of torn out magazine recipes and printed online recipes can not only be scanned in, but you’ll be able to find the recipe with ease. No more searching for hours to find that one elusive recipe I bought all the ingredients for and now can’t find. One quick search on my computer, and it’s on the screen, ready for making. And since I often take my laptop into the kitchen, there’s no need to print it either.

I have a feeling my accountant is going to love me come tax season because the NeatDesk also works with Quickbooks and Quicken. Scan in your receipts, select the appropriate categories for your purchase and that’s it!

In a matter of a few hours hours, I was able to scan all the paperwork that was continuously threatening to take over my kitchen and office. Everything is now streamlined and I can actually sit down and work without having to move piles of paperwork, receipts, and binders out of the way first. Sounds pretty fantastic, right?

Wow – I read this post and was like, seriously, I need one of those NOW! I need the NeatDesk Desktop Scanner + digital filing system to keep me clutter-free. As I type this, I am using the same “all-in-one” machine to scan into my computer all of my “inspirational” files and articles to eliminate the binders and binders of paper and magazine clippings in my home office! What an awesome product!!

As a grad student on the go, I love the receipt organization that the Neat Desk allows for!! The last thing I need is a huge stack of paper receipts laying around. I have never thought about using it to scan in old recipes — I would love to have digital copies of all my Nana’s handwritten ones!

Wow, this NeatDesk digital filing system would free up so much space in our little apartment…just in time for baby’s arrival. I would put it to good use scanning the 10 bankers boxes of grad school notes currently hogging an entire closet. Pick me, pick me!!

I’d like the NeatReceipts to organize my stuff. This scanner software identifies and extracts important information from receipts, business cards and documents and automatically then organizes it for me making my life easier. helenkeeler@comcast.net

I could really use the NeatDesk Desktop Scanner + Digital Filing System because I am buried under mounds of paper on my desk over here!! Currently have a flatbed scanner, but it does not digitally file/index the information very well, so I can’t find anything again!

John L June 17, 2011 at 9:20 pm

Would love the NeatDesk Desktop Scanner + Digital Filing System so my wife doesn’t get mad about all of the papers I (secretly) like to keep on my desktop!! Honestly, I need better organization, and the NeatDesk would really help.

Their Neat ADF Scanner would work perfectly for all my art ideas and baking recipes. Thanks!

Betty June 18, 2011 at 6:15 pm

The Neat Receipts for Windows would be great for me. The small size of the scanner is a plus. I love that it integrates with Quickbooks. With this I might actually be able to find the top of my desk, and get rid of all the recipe books and magazines I have stacked everywhere.

It would be the Neat Desk Desktop Scanner. I’ve been trying for the last two months to get my home and office organized. I have papers laying all over the place. I start to organize all that paper, and then I’m left standing, staring at the room, wondering what to do with it all, where to put it. I end up throwing it on the able or book shelf, and then having to hunt down that same paper days later. What a mess. I know I would feel so much better being on top of things and not looking at all that paper all over the place. I can’t even see the color of my desk anymore.
