I think we all have kitchen tools we covet, wish for, and agonize over purchasing. One such item I’ve wanted to add to my kitchen arsenal for years is a mandoline. I’ve dreamed of super thin potato slices for homemade potato chips, wafer-like apple slices for the most perfect of apple gratins…you name the vegetable or fruit, I can think of something fun and delicious to do to it with a mandoline.
When Edgeware offered me the opportunity to review their first food prep tool for 2010, the Edgeware™ Mandoline Slicer, I pretty much jumped at the chance. The Edgeware™ Mandoline Slicer boasts an impressive set of features: 3 Julienne blades in different sizes, 1 wavy blade (homemade Ruffles, anyone?), a safety grip so you don’t have to be scared to use it, a handy blade storage case, and best of all, it’s dishwasher safe!
I set to work almost immediately testing out the mandoline, first making potato chips like you knew I would. Next, I julienned zucchini, and lightly sauteed it for use in a dish instead of pasta. Delicious! The Edgeware Mandoline provides completely uniform cuts, which allows for uniform cooking time.
I could not be more pleased with this mandoline. It’s even great for slicing hard cheeses, like Parmesan. Perfect on pasta OR pizza. The versatile Edgeware™ Mandoline Slicer has become a kitchen tool that I constantly depend on, so I am very excited that the great people at Edgeware want to giveaway a mandoline to a lucky MBA reader!
