Day 4 of our Father’s Day giveaways is very near and dear to my heart. I mentioned in the Peugeot Baltaz Corkscrew giveaway that Peugeot was kind enough to also give us a pepper mill to give away in our Father’s Day celebrations.

My dad and I, we have a true and unmovable love of pepper. I’ve made no secret on MBA that I love hot food. Pepper, spice, heat – whatever you want to call it, I want my dinner to have some real KICK. And that’s a trait I got directly from dear old Dad.

The man would season chocolate cake with pepper if he could – and now that I think about it.. I’m not sure he hasn’t! An important part of imparting pepper to food is using freshly cracked pepper. If you use the stuff that’s already been ground, sure, you get a little kick (and maybe a sneeze), but to get the real bite, you have to crack the pepper as you add it to food.

That’s where a good pepper mill comes in. There are tons of pepper mills on the market, in every shape and size. But for my money, I’ve never used a pepper mill I liked more than the Peugeot Classic Paris u’select Pepper Mill in Chocolate. For one, it’s a beautiful color and made from solid Beech wood. But more importantly, this pepper mill is made by a company that’s been making pepper mills since the 1842. The grind is perfect, and easily adjustable to your size preference. Peugeot knows what it’s talking about when it comes to pepper mills.

If I were going to go out and buy my dad a pepper mill at Williams Sonoma, it would be this one.

One lucky MBA reader will receive the Peugeot Classic Paris u’select Pepper Mill in Chocolate!

My favorites Father’s Day memory was when I took my Daddy to a Cleveland Indians game on Father’s Day and we were able to go down on the field and play catch after the game. My Daddy always wanted to be a baseball player and he loved it!

My Dad loved spicy food and would pit pepper or hot sauce on just about anything. Whenever we have a spicy dish at home, my girls always say ” Poppa would have loved this!”. He liked to cook and his specialties included black bean soup and homemade salsa.

Three years ago, as a sophomore in college, I lost my dad very suddenly to a heart attack and obviously this day we devote to our father’s is no longer the same for me. I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful father-in-law who loves my cooking and will be spoiled with it today. When I think of my dad, one of his favourite recipes that comes to mind is lemon meringue pie. I still rely on my grandma’s expert baking skills for that one though!
