Happy Valentine’s Day, lovelies! If you’re a total procrastinator like myself, you might currently be in a minor state of pink induced panic. No worries – I got you covered with a super easy recipe for Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies topped with Dove Strawberry Cream Swirl candies.

There is only one happiness in life – to love and to be loved. -George Sand

Although most of the recipes that I share with you on MBA are from scratch, I love having a few semi-homemade recipes in my arsenal for those moments when I’m a little lazy or a little last minute.

I’m sharing the recipe with you on the brand new site, Food Fanatic. The site is brimming with delicious recipes from some of my absolute favorite bloggers. Head over, print the recipe, and have these Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies whipped together in no time.

And if you’re in a Valentine’s Day kinda mood, feel free to leave me a little comment love over on Food Fanatic so I don’t look like a total loner.

Easy + chocolate = the perfect cookie recipe for me to try out…TODAY! These look so good, I’m thinking I need to make them for my sons after school snack today. :)

Generally not a procrastinator but last night I got the “You are baking something for tomorrow aren’t you?” comment… Might be these!

I’m glad you posted the cake mix cookie recipe! I use to make a cake mix cookie, but lost the recipe. I like to make from scratch too, but sometimes .. a whip-it-together is awesome.

That’s a type of candy on top?! Clearly I need to check those out. And as far as procrastinating goes… it’s 7:21pm over here and so far my husband and I haven’t done a thing yet. What a pathetic Valentine’s Day. :(

Gonna go check out the recipe!

Did anyone actually mix these up? Right now I’m looking at a mixture that looks more like cake batter than cookie dough. The batter just spreads out when I put it on the cookie sheet. Sigh, I’ll add mor flour.

Jamie February 28, 2013 at 10:51 am

I have made this recipe more times than I can count. The batter should definitely not be spreading. Can you tell me which brand of cake mix you used? Here is the recipe from the Duncan Hines site from which I adapted my from:

I used Betty Crocker Devil’s Food cake mix. I added 1/2 cup of flour and it worked better. Maybe the fact I’m in Denver…
