Day 4 of our Father’s Day giveaways is very near and dear to my heart. I mentioned in the Peugeot Baltaz Corkscrew giveaway that Peugeot was kind enough to also give us a pepper mill to give away in our Father’s Day celebrations.

My dad and I, we have a true and unmovable love of pepper. I’ve made no secret on MBA that I love hot food. Pepper, spice, heat – whatever you want to call it, I want my dinner to have some real KICK. And that’s a trait I got directly from dear old Dad.

The man would season chocolate cake with pepper if he could – and now that I think about it.. I’m not sure he hasn’t! An important part of imparting pepper to food is using freshly cracked pepper. If you use the stuff that’s already been ground, sure, you get a little kick (and maybe a sneeze), but to get the real bite, you have to crack the pepper as you add it to food.

That’s where a good pepper mill comes in. There are tons of pepper mills on the market, in every shape and size. But for my money, I’ve never used a pepper mill I liked more than the Peugeot Classic Paris u’select Pepper Mill in Chocolate. For one, it’s a beautiful color and made from solid Beech wood. But more importantly, this pepper mill is made by a company that’s been making pepper mills since the 1842. The grind is perfect, and easily adjustable to your size preference. Peugeot knows what it’s talking about when it comes to pepper mills.

If I were going to go out and buy my dad a pepper mill at Williams Sonoma, it would be this one.

One lucky MBA reader will receive the Peugeot Classic Paris u’select Pepper Mill in Chocolate!

My dad has quite the sweet tooth and passed that gene to me. He loves carrot cake! I’m up early this morning to bake up some carrot cake cupcakes for a Father’s Day treat! I cannot wait to use my new piping tips from Bake It Pretty!

My Dad is the best at making boiled peanuts. Here in the south, they are eaten everywhere and you can usually buy them at stands on the side of the road, but his are the best!

My dad is an abysmal cook because he always relied on my mom to cook for him. Now that he’s divorced and cooking for himself he either forgets to eat entirely or makes one of the three things he knows how to make. His favorite: Green Cheese Pizza. No one else would ever, ever eat green cheese pizza, but my dad makes it fairly often. It is green cheese because the mozzarella is, well, far past its prime and starting to grow little fuzzy bits. My dad apparently has the most amazing immune system known to man because he never gets sick from eating old foods like this. He hates to throw food away, so this is his solution. My sister and I are scared to eat anything when we visit and offer to cook so we have an excuse to get groceries! I love my dad to death, but ewww… Green cheese pizza is simply vile.

We ALWAYS give my dad some sort of chocolate for Father’s Day, so this year, I’m making up a special chocolate cake recipe by combining our favorite family brownie recipe AND our fave chocolate cake recipe! Hopefully it’s a success! :)

My passion for pepper, freshly ground in a pepper mill, originates with my dad. Even when he was debilitated by a stroke and could not operate a two-hand mill, he started using a one-handed mill to liberally spice his food with fresh pepper!

Not a recipe, sorry, but the food I will always associate with my dad: Black jelly beans!
