I have kids for a reason. When it's time to rearrange my cabinets, I have them take everything out and I supervise putting the stuff back in, lol. "No, not there. Move to there!" I'm such a great mom. LOL

My apartment kitchen is bursting at the seams. I don't have a pantry, so finding room for food + fun kitchen supplies is a challenge. I had to get creative with stacking & moved larger items like the ice cream maker to my only other closet, next to the laundry detergent.

Sad to say, my cupboards are not really well organized. I do have a "baking cupboard"–all the goodies in one place, easy to grab and make whatever my heart (or stomach) desires). Let's just not even talk about my other cupboards, locked away from my two year old getting in to whatever he wants! ;)
My mom always says and learned once after reading a book about being organized that everything should be closest to the point of use. It's kind of a "duh" thing, but I wasn't doing it like I thought.

I make it a habit to remove all the "goodies" from my cupboards to see what I have accumulated with the changing of the seasons. It's fun to discover what you have pushed to the back of the cupboard! We rotate our wardrobes with the changing of the seasons, why not our dishes, right?

I have dishes, pots and pans, glasses, etc all in one shelf. Unfortunately our kitchen is small and I love to cook and also like to buy gadgets!

I keep my kitchen organized through a bunch of shelves! Shelves everywhere they can fit! I try and group foods by type and dishes and pots by size, but sometimes it's just whatever fits! Oh dear!
When things are bursting at the seams, which they all too often are, I try and give things away to friends that have just moved out of the dorms and need cookware.

    I love those!
I have a place for EVERYTHING! I try to stack everything nicely so it doesn't spill out everywhere.

I keep like dishes together, ie cups in one cabinet, dishes in another. I keep the spices I use most frequently at the front of my baking supply/spice cupboard. I do not have a lot of cabinet space, so I store the majority of my pots/pans,mixers, food processors, etc., on a good size wire shelf system. The items I use less frequently I store in my hall pantry.
