We eat a lot of chicken around here and this summer we’ve certainly developed an affinity for Beer Can Chicken, or Beer Butt Chicken – whatever title floats your boat. It’s simple, incredibly flavorful and makes a great weekend meal. We typically make two small chickens so we’ll have plenty of leftovers to use in other meals throughout the week. The leftover chicken is perfect for a quick chicken noodle soup, chicken salad and of course – barbecue chicken pizza.
Not only are we really into chicken, we also love homemade pizza. There’s nothing better than a counter filled with a variety of pizza toppings and a bowl overflowing with a batch of homemade pizza dough. It’s a great way to get the family involved in cooking and everyone can make their own pizza, so there aren’t any topping wars – which is always a bonus.

One of our favorite pizza creations is this Barbecue Chicken Pizza. We use our favorite store bought barbecue sauce, leftover chicken and plenty of cheese to create a wonderfully flavor pizza that certainly rivals any of our local pizza joints.
If you don’t have leftover chicken, pick up a a rotisserie chicken from your local market to save yourself some time, or simply bake or grill up a couple of chicken breasts.
Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch or a great pizza to accompany your Friday night movie, this Barbecue Chicken Pizza is a great twist for a weekend classic.

My husband loves BBQ chicken. I love pizza. I don’t see why putting the two together wouldn’t be the greatest thing since chocolate syrup!

A great way to use leftover chicken huh…I’ve got some pizza dough in my freezer, but I think I’ve just been inspired to try something else. Thanks.

I would almost always say my favorite pizza toppings are ham and mushroom, but recently we made chicken curry pizza with mushroom, and I can’t get it out of my head! I also truly love a simple margarita pizza.
Absolutely delicious! I love making bbq pizza–I tend to use Virginia Gentleman BBQ sauce–it’s perfect for the pizza!
I see the brand of barbecue sauce that you like the best, but is there a particular flavor of their sauce you like best? Which do you use for your pizza? I can’t wait to try making this pizza myself! Thanks!

Wow, looks yummy. And I have some pizza dough in the freezer which needs using. That’s tomorrow night sorted then!
This pizza looks amazing!
We love BBQ Chicken pizza here too! Try adding roasted red potatoes (diced or wedges) under the cheese and then topping with toasted cashews (chopped). I know it sounds strange, but we had it like this at a friend’s house and the additions add amazing texture and flavor!
Mmm I never had BBQ pizza until I moved to Memphis. But I rarely make it myself. I actually don’t even go out for BBQ often either, I think it’s just because it’s always around and doesn’t seem special anymore haha. But I love making pizza, there are endless topping options! My non-creative day pizza is green peppers and pepperoni.
Hummmmm I love barbecue chiken pizza! One my fav…
xo
Lovely blog! The pizza looks great
Homemade pizza is a favourite in this house. I make the dough and prepare all the toppings, then everyone puts toppings on their own pizza. And the leftovers are great for lunchboxes the next day
Yum! My hubby is a huge fan of BBQ chicken pizza. I often throw in some bacon, too. You know, to make it so much healthier!

I have had this before and it is a favorite of mine. I never had a recipe for it, though. This one sounds scrumptious. Thanks for sharing it.
Your pizza looks delicious mmm! Great photography too
Made this last night for dinner! AMAZING!!!!!!
Oh my, I LOVE barbeque chicken pizza! I live in Switzerland where the pizzas are similar to what you get in Italy, i.e. thin crust with sparse topping. As much as I love the traditional-style pizzas, I love the American variations, such as with barbeque sauce. I am definitely trying this at home!
Looks so delicious! This is going on my menu for next week!
This was really delicious! Thanks for posting the recipe! I used Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory and Brown Sugar barbecue sauce and added some pineapple tidbits to the toppings, and my roommates gobbled it up! I would definitely make this again!
