Made with Grillo’s dill pickle spears, ranch, bacon, and plenty of cheese, this pickle dip recipe went viral on TikTok—and with good reason! This amazing dip is the perfect combination of crunchy, creamy, and tangy and is just begging to be served with your favorite potato chips or added on top of a hot dog at your next cookout.

If you’ve been reading MBA for a while, you know that I love scrolling TikTok for two main reasons: makeup tutorials and fun recipes.
Some of my favorite recipes are ones that I have adapted from TikTok. I make cinnamon rolls with heavy cream for almost every holiday these days, and my friends are constantly asking me to make my easy chili cheese dip for parties.
Recently, a version of this Grillo’s pickle dip went viral and I absolutely had to try it. And you know what? It was 100% worth it.
This is the BEST dip for pickle fans. Using briny, fresh dill pickles gives the dip the perfect crunch and tangy flavor. You won’t be able to stop at just one bite!

What makes this dill pickle dip so special
If you love pickles or you have a friend or family member who loves pickles, you have to try this recipe.
The secret to this pickle dip really is using Grillo’s dill pickle spears. The reason they make this dip extra delicious is because they are made with a “fresh pickling” process and refrigerated, rather than fermented.
This means they stay super crisp and crunchy and have a fresher, slightly tangier flavor than other shelf-stable pickle brands.
If you can’t find Grillo’s pickles at your store, check the refrigerated and/or deli sections for a similar brand of refrigerated dill pickles. The flavor of the dip might change slightly since every pickle brand has its own recipe, but it’ll be pretty close to what you’d get by using the Grillo’s pickles.
I also prefer to use pickle spears, because you can get bigger pieces of pickle in the dip for maximum crunch. If you prefer smaller pickle pieces in your dip, you can either chop the spears more finely or use the Grillo’s sliced dill pickles instead.

Ingredients and substitutions

Aside from a container of Grillo’s dill pickle spears and some of the pickle brine, you’ll also need:
- Whipped cream cheese: Whipped-style cream cheese works better in this dip than a block of cream cheese. If you only have a block of cream cheese available, you’ll need to beat the softened cream cheese on medium-high speed with an electric mixer for about 5 minutes before using it in the recipe.
- Sour cream and plain Greek yogurt: I know, most recipes use either sour cream or Greek yogurt. But I like the flavor and texture from using both in this dip.
- Ranch seasoning: You can use a 1-ounce packet of store-bought seasoning or 2 tablespoons of my homemade ranch seasoning.
- Dill: Use 1 tablespoon of dried dill. If you only have fresh dill, you’ll need 3 tablespoons.
- Cooked and crumbled bacon: I have tried using bacon bits instead of cooking and crumbling bacon slices, but the dip just wasn’t as good. Try cooking bacon in the oven if you need an easy way to make it.
- Shredded cheddar cheese: Bonus points if you shred it yourself!
- Fresh jalapeño: This is optional, but adds a gentle heat and extra crunch that my family enjoys.
- Green onions: Again, optional, but highly recommended.
- Hot sauce: You guessed it—this is also optional, but rounds out the flavor of the dip nicely without making it super spicy. Use your favorite hot sauce!

How to make this pickle dip recipe
This is so easy. Ready?
Add the cream cheese, sour cream, yogurt, ranch seasoning, and dill to a bowl and whisk to combine.
Switch to a spatula and fold in the rest of the ingredients.

Once everything is well combined, cover the dip and chill it in the fridge for at least 2 hours before serving.
Serving suggestions
Obviously this dill pickle dip is perfect for serving alongside chips. Tortilla chips, potato chips, and Fritos Scoops are all excellent with it. Any scoop-style chip or ridged chip holds up well to everything going on in this dip.
Crackers, pretzels, and fresh veggies are some other great dipper options. Anything you’d find on the appetizer table at a summer cookout or game day party is going to be great.
And you know what? It’s also incredible spooned onto a hot dog or a burger. You could even spread it onto a toasted bagel. Really, you can’t go wrong here.
If you loved this dill pickle dip, you’d also enjoy my loaded baked potato dip!

Storage tips
Store leftover pickle dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If you keep the deli container the pickles came in, that makes a great storage container for this dip.
Do not freeze pickle dip.
Recipe variations
- For a spicier version, use Grillo’s hot pickle spears and add a few extra dashes of your favorite hot sauce.
- Need a vegetarian version? Simply omit the bacon.
- If you can’t find Grillo’s pickles, look for another brand of refrigerated pickles. I do not recommend using fermented/shelf-stable pickles in this recipe.
