Let’s chat Elf on a Shelf for a minute, shall we? After doing a Facebook Live last week and mentioning our little elf, Ella, I’ve received some pretty hilarious emails and comments about it.

One thing I’ve figured out is that people either love it *raises hand* or absolutely freaking loathe it.

We’re #teamelfonashelf around here and honestly, I think Eric and I adore it just as much as Elle.

And if you promise to keep the hate mail to a minimum, I’ll confess that although Ella refrains from doing anything too mischievous, she does have quite the wardrobe, her own mailbox, and adorable mini stationery.

We even have a set of magical red tongs that allow us to move her back to her shelf if we find her in a particularly precarious spot in the morning.

Overboard? Absolutely. But this holiday tradition is truly one of my absolute favorite things about the season and no one can convince me otherwise.

I have tried your Vanilla Ext and like it a lot My friend loves Chai Tea how much of this spice blend would you add to a cup of black tea?

    1. Jamie says:

      Maurita-
Because of the powdery texture, I don’t think I would use this in plain black tea. I would recommend it for lattes and smoothies as far as beverages go. And it’s definitely amazing in baked goods, pancakes, etc.

I can remember back 37 years ago, my husband of the time was stationed at 29 Palms, Ca. I baked all the cookies I could, placed them in all the tins I had bought at garage sales. Made as much Hot chocolate mix I could make, placed it in canning jars. Then passed it to all the Marines that were working with my husband. They couldnt go home but I tried to bring them a little of home.

    1. Jamie says:

Such a thoughtful idea, Barbara! Hot cocoa mix is always a favorite of mine at this time of year! Happy holidays to you and yours!

Where can I find the cute tags?

    1. Jamie says:

      Tania-
The tags were actually handmade, so we don’t have a source. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  4. Lindsay says:

Thanks for the recipe!  How and with what would you mix this for a chai latte?  Thanks!

    1. Jamie says:

      Lindsay,
I’d start with about 1/4 teaspoon in a latte. I typically steep my tea and mix it with steamed milk a bit of vanilla extract and about a 1/4 teaspoon of this blend. I then use a handheld frother to get everything incorporated. I hope this helps!

Merry Christmas Jamie! Uninformed question, can this mix be steeped with black tea?

I’m excited about this spice blend. Can I use it as is for chai tea? If so, how much for about 8oz of hot tea? Happy Holidays!

Just because you asked, I am not a fan of Elf on the Shelf. This is mostly because it would be another thing I’d have to remember to do. I have never read the book about it, I have just seen people’s posts with what the elves end up doing in the night. I don’t hate it, I just don’t want to get it started.

Thanks for this recipe, it sounds like it would be fun and easy!

    1. Jamie says:

Ha! It’s definitely something extra to remember! Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoy the chai spice blend!

I love chai tea myself. Always thought it had caffeine in it. Do you think you can turn this into a tea? Love those spices.

This is a great idea! I need to send this to my sister. I remember when chai tea first came out and she brought me a big one. I wasn’t sure if I liked it at first but I finished it to be polite. It ended up being one of my favorite drinks and now I always have chai tea in my kitchen.

    1. Jamie says:

So happy to hear you like the idea, Carol! Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Holidays to you and yours!
