Do you know what the best holiday appetizers are?

The ones that take almost no effort to make but totally impress your guests because they taste so good and look so pretty.

I love making things like cranberry brie bites or a savory puff pastry Christmas tree. Even things like mini cheese balls and marinated cheese fit the bill!

This year, I’m making this easy baked brie with jam for all of my holiday dinners and parties. With about 5 minutes of prep and so many flavor options, it’s such a winner this time of year.

Super easy baked brie appetizer

This baked brie is on the list of easy appetizer recipes that will totally fool your friends into thinking you spent way more time on it than you did.

Last year I made baked brie in puff pastry, and that one is amazing with toasted pecans and honey. But this one is even easier. Seriously, it takes all of 5 minutes to throw together.

I got the idea for this one from a video on TikTok. I didn’t even save the video; I just watched it and scrolled on, and then the idea stuck in my head for several days.

For this one, I spread jam on top of a wheel of brie and then topped it with crushed Ritz crackers.

After baking, the cheese gets melty and the crackers get crispy. The sweetness of the jam is perfect with the buttery crackers and the creamy brie. Garnish it with some fresh herbs and you’ve got one fantastic appetizer for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, or just a date night in.

How to make baked brie with jam

This is such an easy recipe. 5 minutes of prep, 15 minutes of baking time, and you’ve got an appetizer that will totally impress.

Ingredients you’ll need

You’ll only need 4 ingredients to make this recipe:

  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel of brie
  • 2 tablespoons fig jam
  • 6 Ritz crackers, crushed into crumbs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons melted salted butter

I love making this baked brie with fig jam, but you can use any jam you like best. I have used the brie and fig jam from Aldi and both are delicious!

If you’d like, you can garnish the baked brie with chopped fresh thyme or fresh rosemary and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt just before serving, but that’s totally optional.

Making this baked brie

Unwrap the brie wheel and place it in a small oven-safe baking dish. I like using my 6.5-inch cast iron skillet for this. It’s the perfect size and looks cute enough to use as the serving dish later.

Spread the jam on top of the brie. Some baked brie recipes will have you remove the top rind or cut into the top of the brie in a crosshatch pattern. I have tried doing all of these but didn’t find that it made enough of a difference in this recipe, so I think it’s easiest to leave the cheese as is!

In a small bowl, combine the crushed crackers with the melted butter and arranged this on top of the jam.

Bake at 350°F for 15-18 minutes, or until the crackers are golden brown and everything is hot.

If you’d like, garnish with a sprinkle of fresh herbs, such as thyme, and flaky sea salt before serving.

Flavor variations

Fig jam is my current favorite jam to use for this baked brie. But there are tons of other jams and spreads that would be delicious, such as:

As you can see, you can go a little bit fruit or a little bit savory here. Both ways totally work and are really delicious!

Serving suggestions

You can serve this baked brie with jam on its own or as part of a cheese board.

I love dipping into this melty brie with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or fresh fruit such as apple slices, pear slices, and grapes.

It also pairs well with nuts. Roasted and salted pistachios, candied almonds, and candied pecans are all delicious with it!
